YOUR TRIP LEADERS

FRANCOIS RAOULT

is the founder and director of Open Sky Yoga Center in Rochester, NY. A certified Iyengar instructor, he has traveled and studied extensively in India. Francois has taught yoga since 1975 and conducts seminars in the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico and India.

NATHALIE ALVAREZ

is Francois's partner in life and co-creator of the Journey to India. A pioneer in the fields of massage and transpersonal therapy since 1981, Nathalie directs L’Ecole du Corps Conscience, a training program in body-centered psychotherapy based in Montpellier, France. Nathalie’s work combines expression, symbolism, mandalas and color therapy. She cherishes a deep connection with Mother India.

ITINERARY

DECEMBER 28, 2016

Depart from U.S. or Europe to Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), via Dubai.

DECEMBER 30

Transfer by minibus from Trivandrum airport to Aadithya Lake Resorts in Kollam, Kerala. Nested on the lake, with luxuriant vegetations, a few villas and house boats just for our group. Meals will be traditional vegetarian keralan style. The infinite pool, the lake and the Indian Ocean not far away will cool you off if needed!

DECEMBER 30 TO JANUARY 4

A four day yoga and ayurveda retreat at Aadithyaa resorts. This will be our base for exploring regional sites, the spectacular back waters by boat, including elephant bathing, participating in a puja at a local temple etc.. You will also receive two traditional ayurvedic treatments/massages, sirodhara and abhyanga.

JANUARY 4

Depart for the sacred city of Madurai. Stay at Royal Court Hotel, deluxe accommodations with two participants per room. Visit the Great Temple.

JANUARY 5

Depart for Thanjavur.

JANUARY 6-7

Explore Thanjavur. Visit of Temple and Palace and deep rural India.

JANUARY 8

Depart for Mahabalipuram. Lunch at Ramana Maharshi Ashram. Stay at Ideal Beach resort.

JANUARY 9-10

Explore Mahabalipuram. Visit Auroville near Pondichery. Swim in the Bay of Bengal.

JANUARY 11

Depart from Chennai International Airport. Arrival in U.S. or Europe.

OPTION CHAMUNDI HILL PALACE

Only open to 12 participants.

JANUARY 11

Morning flight from Chennai to Kochi. Arrival and dinner at Chamundi.

JANUARY 12 TO 17

Week-long ayurveda, yoga and creative arts retreat. One daily ayurvedic treatment and supervision with resident ayurvedic physician Dr Sheela. Puja, elephant bathing, visit to Kumily spice and rubber plantations.

JANUARY 18

Early am flights back to US and Europe, Australia.

Balance due June 1, 2016. Payable by check or credit card. Indicate “Journey to India.”

$3550 fee includes all yoga sessions with François, all journaling sessions with Nathalie , art supplies, transportation on AC bus, all meals, hotels, Ayurvedic massage, Kathakali performance, class excursions in Kerala natural areas, visits to sacred temples of Thanjavur, Madurai, Mahabalipuram and Auroville.

$1950 fee includes transfer to/from airports by bus, domestic flight Chennai-Kochi, all accommodations, meals, ayurvedic treatments, all yoga classes with Francois and creative journaling sessions with Nathalie, excursions at Chamundi Hill Palace.

FLIGHT ARRANGEMENTS

For flight from Rochester to Cochin, return Chennai to Rochester, we have a group rate with a travel agency specializing in Indian travel. You will have to pay for your flight as soon as the reservation is confirmed.
